Position Summary:
. The job of General Maintenance Worker provides maintenance services as needed and/or assigned. He/She assists in a wide variety of maintenance activities; addressing immediate operational and/or safety concerns; assisting skilled trades; and ensures that tools and materials are maintained in good working order.
Duties and Responsibilities: (Essential Duties)
• Schedule, coordinate, direct and perform routine and comprehensive custodial maintenance of assigned facilities.
• Installs system component parts, classroom and office equipment and facility components (e.g. lighting, heating and ventilating systems, alarms, plumbing, security, electrical panels, etc.) for providing a safe and workable environment.
• Perform carpentry duties in the form of door and door hardware installation and repair, ceiling tile and floor tile repair and installation, patch holes in walls, and paint finishes as needed.
• Performs various maintenance and custodial duties such as installation and repair to fixtures in restrooms and classrooms.
• Repairs furniture and building system components for ensuring a safe working condition.
• Troubleshoots and repairs minor plumbing and electrical problems; replaces a variety of light bulbs and lighting accessories.
• Assists with, and performs refinishing of floors.
• Performs preventative maintenance in and around facilities.
• Identifies stains and uses proper chemicals for removal.
• Performs minor ground keeping duties.
• Coordinates with skilled tradesmen and/or assigned supervisors(s) for completing projects and work orders efficiently.
• Maintains inventory and submits written request for supplies; test and evaluates new supplies and equipment.
• Prepares written materials (repair status, activity logs, etc.) for the purpose of documenting activities and/or conveying information.

• Responds to emergency situations during and after hours for resolving immediate safety concerns.

• Maintain a high standard of cleanliness and neatness in the schools.

• Participates in meetings, workshops, trainings, and seminars for the purpose of conveying and/or gathering information required to perform functions.

• May serve as a lead worker in the absence of the supervisor.

• Perform related duties as required.

Qualifications: (Education!Training and Experience Required) Required:

High School Diploma and experience in general maintenance.

Degrees, Licensure, and/or

Certification:

Valid Driving Record
